Signora Jewels builds this engagement ring around the old mine cut's broad facets and softly rounded cushion outline. A polished bezel wraps around the diamond, joining the shoulders without separate prongs.
The reference stone measures 7.33 × 6.37 mm and weighs 1.50 ct. The shoulders widen to approximately 3.5–4.5 mm beside the center before narrowing into a 1.70 mm plain shank. That transition gives the ring its signet-inspired profile.
Design highlights
The bezel is the working part of this design. It shields the cushion's rounded corners and removes the projecting claws found on a conventional solitaire. The broad shoulders also give the center a continuous metal frame rather than leaving it perched above a thin band.

Dimensions are approximate and refer to the 1.50 ct design. Center and setting proportions change with the selected diamond weight.
The cushion old mine cut has broad facets and a distinctive central pattern, rather than the smaller, more numerous reflections of a modern brilliant cut. Read our diamond stone guide for more about how faceting changes the appearance of a diamond.
The broad bezel and shoulders make the chosen metal particularly noticeable. Yellow gold gives the old mine cut a warm frame; white gold and platinum create a cooler contrast. Clean around the bezel's inner edge with mild soap and a soft brush. Our jewelry care guide explains routine maintenance.
Does the bezel protect the cushion's rounded corners?
Yes. The continuous bezel covers all four rounded corners and the diamond's outer edge, leaving its faceted top visible. There are no projecting claw tips around the stone.
How does the 1.50 ct old mine cut look different from a modern cushion brilliant?
The old mine cut has broader facets and a more prominent central facet pattern. On this 7.33 × 6.37 mm reference diamond, those facets are visible through the open face of the bezel.
Will the broad shoulders feel different from a narrow solitaire band?
The shoulders measure approximately 3.5–4.5 mm near the reference center before narrowing to 1.70 mm underneath. More metal sits beside the diamond than along the lower shank, giving the ring a wider upper profile.
Can I stack a straight wedding band against this bezel ring?
The broad integrated shoulders determine how closely a straight band sits beside the center. The estimated 4.8–5.3 mm setting height alone does not establish a flush fit. Compare the finished setting with the intended companion band.
How do I clean the junction between the bezel and the diamond?
The continuous rim creates a narrow junction around the cushion's perimeter. Use warm water, mild soap and a soft brush around that edge, then rinse and dry with a lint-free cloth. Avoid pointed tools beneath the metal rim.
